Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion In a Time with COVID-19

About This Event

COVID-19 has taught us that no one is immune. From Hollywood actors and professional athletes to politicians and CEOs to regular folks like ourselves, the virus can strike anyone…and at any time.  Unfortunately, the virus is also invoking fears of other people and other countries with not-so-subtle undertones of racism and xenophobia. Manifesting as microagressions, every day acts of discrimination stemming from coronavirus fears have surfaced in the workplace, where employees have reported feelings of being shamed, shunned and verbally assaulted.

As companies adapt their organizational “work-from-home” cultures to meet the needs of our new reality, executives must also ensure that the workplace embraces best-in-class practices to provide all employees a safe, healthy and protected collective environment.  Mayshad CHOICE Diversity, Equity and Inclusion series will discuss how companies and leaders can excel in this moment of rapid change and uncertainty, while embracing principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.

With Featured Speakers

Jacqueline Ebanks
Executive Director, NYC Commission on Gender Equity

About Jacqueline

Mayor Bill de Blasio appointed Jacqueline as Executive Director of the New York City Commission on Gender Equity (CGE) in August 2017. An innovative manager and policymaker with extensive experience in philanthropy and the nonprofit sector, she has worked for over three decades to promote economic and social justice for women, girls, and marginalized communities.

A visionary, results-oriented leader, in both non-profit and for-profit environments, with extensive experience and a proven track record in nonprofit management, governance, organizational/program development, public policy analysis, relationship management, and leading through periods of significant change.

Jacqueline will discuss with us what leadership means now: learning how to manage self and manage others in the isolation and separation. She’ll also offer great perspective from her position in New York City, including volunteer opportunities and resources for small businesses.
