About Dorcas

Dorcas is a seasoned DE&I/communications strategist with a track record of dynamic, integrated healthcare and
corporate marketing communication campaigns that engage stakeholders across multiple channels – building,
reinforcing or repairing corporate and brand image to enhance reputation, grow mind share and penetrate new
markets. With more than 20 years of experience managing global, multi-level teams, she has led engagements including strategic planning and program implementation, building a formal D&I function including talent acquisition and mobility, corporate identity campaigns, product communications, advocacy relations, and patient recruitment and retention in clinical trials.

Dorcas has served in various executive roles within health and hospital systems, and at top tier healthcare public
relations firms including WCG and Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, leading client engagements for Alexion, Novartis,Merck and Pfizer – spearheading D&I, public affairs, CSR and corporate identify initiatives and programs. She aligns content with creative to inspire lasting behavior change. Dorcas brings infectious passion to her work and delivers exceptional communication skills, diplomacy and emotional intelligence with every challenge. Her dedication and expertise have been showcased on NPR, Jennifer Brown’s podcast: The Will to Change, and LEADERS Magazine.

In addition, as a Diversity& Inclusion strategist, she has achieved measurable outcomes on behalf of Fortune 500 organizations – from healthcare to telecommunications companies – all looking to make a meaningful and lasting
business impact with D&I initiatives directed towards employees, customers, and patient communities. Dorcas served as communications strategist for the Ogilvy Diversity Council and worked to ensure an inclusive and diverse “workplace of the future” including planning and execution of the D&I strategic plan, D&I communications, agency-wide Employee Resource Group initiatives, mentorship/sponsorship programs including the Women’s Leadership Series, the Multicultural Internship Program, unconscious bias training, and diversity recruiting and talent acquisition initiatives for the company.

Dorcas joined Ogilvy from Edelman Public Relations where she managed communications for both product and
corporate programs. There she was an integral part of the team that launched Nexium in the U.S. Hispanic community.
Prior to joining Edelman, Dorcas co-led global clinical trial recruitment and multicultural marketing for the healthcare division at GCI Group.  In addition to corporate engagements, she delivered messaging and media training to government and not-for-profit clients including the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation. Prior to agency life, Dorcas held research positions at Johnson & Johnson, the Institute for Health Policy Studies at the University of California at San Francisco, the San Francisco Foundation, Planned Parenthood, and the Mayor’s Office of Adolescent Pregnancy and Parenting Services in New York City. Dorcas obtained her M.P.H. from the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Public Health in the areas of behavioral science and health education.  She earned a B.A. with honors in Health & Society at Brown University and has completed postgraduate professional training at the University of Chicago and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. She lives in Maplewood, NJ with her husband and two daughters whom she fondly refers to as Hindi- Ricans in celebration of their multicultural heritage.
