Let’s face facts, we don’t live in the 20th century anymore where individuals could stay in the same job for 40 years. The lifecycle of jobs can be very short. There is a lot of vulnerability in the job market. How can we upgrade our skills and professional capital to make it flexible and adaptable to the change in the nature of jobs in the 21st century? Let’s prepare ourselves to find other jobs without getting hurt or having emotional damage from the loss of jobs.

About Miriam
The Goethe-Institut is the official cultural representation of the Federal Republic of Germany; it fosters international cultural cooperation, and by closely working with partners form the educational and cultural field, it encourages intercultural dialogue and strengthens the development of structures in civil society
Until recently, Ms. Bruns was posted in Washington DC as director of partner relations and deputy director of “Wunderbar Together”, a yearlong German-American Friendship-initiative. Working with over 200 partners, the initiative showcased the close US-German bonds in over 1,500 events in all 50 states.
From 2007 through 2017, Ms. Bruns held positions at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta, the official cultural and language representative of Germany in the Southeastern United States. She headed the organization’s program and education departments and served as its executive director.
Ms. Bruns is currently working remotely form her home in Northern Germany and is looking forward to moving to her new posting in India once Covid19 restrictions allow for international travel. Meanwhile she enjoys long walks in the country side and has completed her first online learning experience, a MOOC on Executive Leadership with Saïd Business School, Oxford.
