COVID-19 has taught us that no one is immune. From Hollywood actors and professional athletes to politicians and CEOs to regular folks like ourselves, the virus can strike anyone…and at any time. Unfortunately, the virus is also invoking fears of other people and other countries with not-so-subtle undertones of racism and xenophobia. Manifesting as microagressions, every day acts of discrimination stemming from coronavirus fears have surfaced in the workplace, where employees have reported feelings of being shamed, shunned and verbally assaulted.
As companies adapt their organizational “work-from-home” cultures to meet the needs of our new reality, executives must also ensure that the workplace embraces best-in-class practices to provide all employees a safe, healthy and protected collective environment. Mayshad CHOICE Diversity, Equity and Inclusion series will discuss how companies and leaders can excel in this moment of rapid change and uncertainty, while embracing principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Katy serves as Director of Operations, with oversight of technology, production integration, and project management. Her industry experience allows her to relate to the needs of the sales team while collaborating with multiple leaders across the organization on growth and planning.
Katy has been published in media outlets, including Fast Company, New York Post, and CBS Money Watch. Katy lives on the South Shore with her husband and two children. When she’s not in the office, she enjoys college football, reading, the beach, and spending time with her family.
